Hamilton College basketball player Michael Schantz (Sharon, MA/Sharon) is the nation's best rebounder, according to the NCAA statistics for games played through 1/10/99.

The senior forward has pulled down 88 rebounds in five games, an average of 17.6 caroms per contest. Schantz is also listed among the leaders on the offensive end, ranking sixth in field goal accuracy with 65.3% and seventh in scoring with 26.2 points per game.

As a team, the Continentals boast the third-best defensive field goal percentage, allowing opponents to hit only 126 shots on 355 attempts (35.5%).

The Continentals will play two home games this weekend — Friday versus Rensselaer at 8 p.m. and Saturday versus Union at 4 p.m. Both games will be played at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House in Clinton, NY.
