A showing of the film Persepolis and subsequent discussion will take place on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Kennedy Auditorium of the Science Center's Kennedy Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Persepolis, which is based on the autobiographical novel of the same name, depicts the coming of age of writer and artist Marjane Satrapi. The movie takes place during the Iranian Revolution, in which Islamic fundamentalists seized power and created a theocracy. Iranian feminist scholar Shahrzad Mojab will lead a discussion of the film immediately following the screening.
The event is co-sponsored by the Kirkland Endowment, Dean of Students, Womyn's Center, Jane Watson Irwin Fund and Information Technology Services.
