Six Hamilton College women's lacrosse players have been selected to the NCAA Division III all-Empire Region Team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Kaillie Briscoe '09 (Orangeville, Ontario/Orangeville District School), Kate Marek '09 (Alexandria, Va./The Gunnery [Conn.]), Jen McGowan '08 (Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union HS) and Nicole Tetreault '08 (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland HS) made the first team. Sarah Bray '11 (Rockville, Md./Connelly School of the Holy Child) and Liz Rave '10 (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington HS) were placed on the second team. A total of 32 players are on the all-region squad.
Briscoe is on the all-region first team for the third time at attack. She broke her own team record for points in a season with 107 and tied her own program mark with 41 assists. Her 66 goals is the second highest total in one year for a Hamilton women's player.
Tetreault ranked second on the team with 54 goals and 21 assists. The 2008 Liberty League Player of the Year was named to the NCAA Division III championships all-tournament team. She was on the all-region first team at attack in 2007 and went on to capture First Team All-America honors.
McGowan was all-region second team as a rookie and as a sophomore. She scored 42 goals and assisted on 11 others this year. The midfielder scooped up 45 ground balls and led the team with 19 free-position goals on 38 attempts. McGowan made the all-tournament team.
Marek joins Briscoe and McGowan on the all-region team for the third time at midfield. Marek also made the first team as a rookie. She finished the year with 29 goals and five assists. Marek led the team with 51 ground balls, 47 draw controls and 31 caused turnovers. She also made the all-tournament team in Virginia.
Bray ended up third on the team with 54 points (39 goals, 15 assists), despite the fact she started just three games. She paced the Continentals with five game-winning goals. Bray saved the best game of her young career for the national championship. The midfielder scored a career-high five goals and added an assist in Hamilton's 13-6 win against Franklin & Marshall College. Bray was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Rave is on the all-region team for the first time at midfield. She scored 36 goals, won 37 draws and caused 21 turnovers. Rave also picked up 41 ground balls.
The Continentals (21-1 overall) set team records for wins and consecutive victories (19) in a season. The program won the first national team title in school history. Hamilton was making its fourth appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Continentals boast back-to-back Liberty League regular season and tournament crowns.
