Smith, who leads the Continentals (5-5-1; 3-2-1 ECAC East) with six goals, took a long headman pass from Mark Warcup and scored on Trinity goalie Jeff Blair (43 saves) to give Hamilton a 3-1 advantage at the 7:36 mark. He then helped to cement Hamilton's victory with a slap shot from the left slot with 6:26 remaining in the game after Trinity (5-5-1; 3-3-1 ECAC East) had cut the lead to 3-2 just a minute earlier.
Hamilton took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission thanks to the first career goal by sophomore John Manley, playing just his third game with the varsity. Manley took a feed from Ben Hawn in front of the net and scored at the 15:16 mark of the period.
Dan Lyons had a goal and an assist for Trinity, which lost to Hamilton for the seventh consecutive time. The game was a rematch of last Saturday's 6-4 Hamilton win over the Bantams in the consolation round of the Plattsburgh Cardinal Classic.
Scott Grenier had 27 saves for Hamilton and improved his record to 3-2-1 on the season.
