Hamilton College dropped two non-conference games against host Union College at Alexander Field on April 21.

Hamilton (5-24 overall) mustered just one infield single against tough Union pitching in an 8-0 loss in Game 1. The Dutchwomen (19-5) prevailed 12-4 in the second game. Both contests were stopped in the bottom of the fifth inning due to the eight-run mercy rule.

Amber O'Connor '09 reached base on an error to lead off the top of the first inning in the opener, and Ashley White '09 followed with the infield single. However, the next 15 Continentals were set down in order. Megan Coughlin '09 pitched four-plus innings and took the loss.

The Continentals were able to put together some offense in the nightcap. O'Connor, Rachel Rapoza '10 and Robin Brown '09 each recorded a single and an RBI.

Union jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and Hamilton cut the gap to 3-1 in the third on O'Connor's run-scoring single. Union responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame, but the Continentals dug into the lead again with three unearned runs in the fourth. Rapoza plated Liz Reid '11 with a groundout and Leigh Sherrow '11 scored on a fielding error. Brown drove in Liz Farrington '10 for the visitors' final run.

Union added two runs in the fourth and three runs with no outs in the fifth to end Game 2. Mandy Hyne '11 pitched four-plus innings and took the loss.

Hamilton hosts Wesleyan University for a weekend of New England Small College Athletic Conference West Division action. The teams play a single game on Friday, April 24, and square off for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 25.
