Sophomore Michelle Stender had a game-high 20 points and13 rebounds as St. Lawrence (8-4, 1-2 UCAA ) held off Hamilton, 58-52, in aUCAA (Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association) conference matchup at ScottField House. The Saints led 27-25 at the half as Angela Hodgeman madetwo free throws to end the first period.

St. Lawrence extended their lead to seven, powered by the strong play ofStender and senior Kristen Buhl (15 points, 12 rebounds), butHamilton (3-9, 37 UCAA) hung tough to take a one-point lead with 7:24 to play.Each team traded leads, but St. Lawrence pulled away after Crystal Stonemade two key layups with three minutes left to play.

Hamilton was led offensively by freshman Julie Gennuso who scored 16points and passed for four assists, while sophomore Kelly McKeown added12 points and four assists.

Hamilton returns to action Friday, Jan. 30, at Bates College.
