Upson Chair for Public Discourse and Professor of Geosciences Barbara Tewksbury gave the keynote address at the 32nd National Symposium and 1st International Geoscience Congress on Feb. 18. The event was in Tehran, Iran, and because Tewksbury was unable to be there, “University-Level Geoscience Education for the 21st Century,” was presented via video.

Tewksbury said Instructional Technology Specialist Ted Fondak helped her record PowerPoint slides and a video of herself making the presentation. He then merged the slides with the video and audio to create a single file “so that a rectangle appears in the bottom corner of the screen showing the video superimposed on the PowerPoint slides.” Using Google Drive, the finished product was shared with conference organizers for presentation at the event.
