Terry Hawkridge leads alumni tour of the College Arboretum

A group of alumni were treated to the first Reunion tour of the College Arboretum. This tour, led by arborist Terry Hawkridge, Assistant Director of the Physical Plant, took alumni on a walk of the campus to see some of the older and more interesting trees. The tour started near the entrance of Root Glen and concluded with the dwarf conifers near the Anderson-Connell Alumni Center.

Hawkridge took the group to see the Ginkgo in front of the Admissions building before they headed across the road to see the trees surrounding the Bristol Campus Center, including the huge Cucumber Magnolia near the front entrance to Bristol. The alumni showed their excitement during the tour, asking questions and trading information with Hawkridge, who displayed his expertise on the subject of trees and nature itself.  The tour, scheduled to last only one hour, ended up lasting almost two full hours due to the questions and comments from alumni who attended the tour.

Anyone interested in taking the self-guided walking tour of the Arboretum can pick-up a brochure at the gazebo near the entrance of Root Glen.
