The Hamilton College Theatre Department will present Georg Büchner’s 1836 classic Woyzeck, directed by Professor Carole Bellini-Sharp and translated by Carl Richard Mueller.

 

Performances will run Thursday, Nov. 3 – Saturday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m., and Thursday, Nov. 10 – Saturday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. Matinee performances will also be staged on Saturdays, Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. All performances take place in Minor Theater.  Considered to be the first great modern tragedy, Woyzeck touches on themes of poverty, power, love and madness.

 

Woyzeck features Hamilton students Kadahj Bennett '12 as Woyzeck, Nico Sarmiento '13 as Andres, Shayna Schmidt '12 as Marie, Josh Bridge '14 as the child, Alex Dorer '13 as Margaret, Jonathan Higginbotham '12 as drum major, Jack Carroll '14 as fool/idiot, John Whitney '12 as captain, and Mike Bickal '12 as doctor.

 

Tickets for the performance are $5 for the general public and $3 for students. Seating is limited and reservations are strongly encouraged.  For more information or tickets call the Theatre Department office at 859-4057. This performance contains language or situations that may not be appropriate for young children. Parental guidance is suggested.
