Three Hamilton College athletes were honored by the Liberty League on Sept. 13 when the league announced its weekly award winners.

Anthony Balbo '13 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill HS) was a men's soccer co-offensive performer of the week selection and Jon Sanford '11 (Barrington, R.I./Barrington HS) was a men's soccer co-defensive performer of the week pick. Marisa Spagnolo '12 (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) was a field hockey co-defensive performer of the week honoree.

Balbo scored two goals in a 1-0-1 week for Hamilton. He notched the tying goal in a 1-1 decision with SUNY Cortland on Sept. 8, and tallied the first goal in a 3-0 win against Ithaca College on Sept. 11.

Sanford helped lead a Continental defense that allowed one goal in two games, and added a goal and an assist in the 3-0 win against Ithaca on Saturday. Hamilton surrendered just four shots on goal last week.

Spagnolo led a defense that shut out Utica College 3-0 on Sept. 11 in Hamilton's lone game last week. Utica had scored 11 goals in its first three games.
