Hamilton College began competition at the 2013 New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Outdoor Championships at St. Lawrence University’s Merrick-Pinkard Track on May 3.

On the women’s side, Hamilton is tied for sixth place out of 11 teams with 17 points, and Ithaca College leads with 94 points. The Hamilton men sit in seventh place out of 11 teams with 11 points, and the leader on the men’s side is Rochester Institute of Technology with 65.5 points. The Continentals wrap up the NYSCTC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 4, starting at 10 a.m.

RESULTS

Hannah Jaiven '13 won the women's pole vault one week after she finished third at the NESCAC championship. Jaiven vaulted to a height of 3.45 meters, which was 0.1 meters more than last week.

Hannah Kloeckner '14 ran to sixth place in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 40:05.01, and Rachel Cackett '13 grabbed eighth place with a time of 40:53.97. Hamilton took sixth place in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:54.42. Members of the relay included Emily Heckman '13, Krystina Choinski '15, Jessye McGarry '16 and Catherine Oglevee '15.

Will Tifft '14 nabbed second place in the men’s hammer throw with a distance of 45.65 meters, and Matthew Peterfreund '14 finished sixth in the javelin throw at 48.34 meters. Sam Reider '14 qualified for Saturday's 400-meter dash finals with the second-fastest time of 50.13 seconds.
