Kevin Michaelsen, Financial Aid
"We have travel plans and we're still going. We're flying to Minnesota. We got stuck in the Bahamas on September 11. No one could get off the island. There were three or four other groups we met, and we all became kind of a family. We're planning a get-together at the Bronx Zoo."

Chandra Mohanty, Women's Studies
My travel fears have to do with the current climate in the USA in which folks who "look," South Asian/Muslim/Arab (and we all know there is no such "look"  just a stereotype) are being automatically scrutinized and labelled "terrorist" -- especially at airports nationwide.   That being said, I did fly to San Francisco for a conference last week and found the travel experience to be tedious, but pretty normal except for being asked by airport security to take a sip out of my infant daughter's milk bottle!

Deb Woods, Print Shop
"I was scared of flying before. I don't like not having my destiny in my own hands. We go to NASCAR events, usually driving, but now I wonder if a place like Daytona is going to be the target of terrorist attacks."

Sally Emery, Mail Center
"I wouldn't get on a plane for all the money in the world. If I were driving anywhere it wouldn't bother me."

Terry Lapinski, Athletic Department
"We're going to New Jersey to see family for Christmas and will be driving. I'm not going to let terrorists dictate what we do."

Kathy Kwasniewski, ITS
"I was supposed to fly into Dulles (Washington, D.C.) the Sunday after the attacks for Datatel training, but the training was cancelled completely. I had to go this past week and I drove instead of flying."

Luis Luna, ITS
"I hope to go home (Quito, Ecuador) around the holidays. But I won't be flying an American airline."

Paul Hagstrom, Economics and Levitt Center
"I'm flying to DC on November 1 and, although I didn't change my plans, my plans have changed. I have to leave home at 3 a.m. for a 6 a.m. flight so I can be in Syracuse the requisit two hours in advance. I don't feel any less safe than I did before, but because of rerouting, it's much less convenient to fly."
