2012 NESCAC Golf All-Conference Team

Mac Pivirotto ‘15 (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke’s School) made the first team, while Matt Yung ’16 (Wilmington, Del./Sanford School) and Greg Scott ‘14 (New Haven, Vt./Mount Abraham Union HS) landed on the second team. Yung also captured NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors.

The all-conference team is based on the players' performance at the NESCAC Championship Qualifier, which was held at Hickory Ridge Golf Club in Amherst, Mass., on Sept. 29 and 30. The rookie of the year is the freshman that finishes with the best score at the event. Fifteen golfers were honored.

Pivirotto led the Continentals with a two-day total of 151 that put him in sixth place out of 50 golfers. His 36-hole score was tied for his best at Hamilton, as was his 3-over-par 75 on Saturday on the 6,704-yard layout.

Yung finished in a tie for 11th place with a score of 153, and on Saturday fired the tournament's low round of the day with a season-best 73. He is the third Hamilton golfer to earn rookie of the year honors along with Chris Pike '07 in 2003 and Brad Roche '11 in 2007.

Scott, who was an All-American as a freshman, shot rounds of 77 and 76 for a two-day score of 153. He also finished in a tie for 11th place. He is a three-time all-conference honoree as he was on the first team last year and the second team in 2010.

The Continentals placed third as a team with a score of 611 and qualified to participate in the 2013 NESCAC Championship, which will be hosted by Trinity College and played in late April.

Hamilton wraps up the fall portion of its schedule with the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7. The first round is at Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford and the second round is at The Skenandoa Club --the Continentals' home course -- in Clinton.
