For 27 consecutive years more than 50 percent of all Hamilton alumni have made an unrestricted gift to the College. Astounding! As the end of the year approaches, your support is appreciated and critically important. To help prompt you to be as generous as circumstances allow, a number of trustees promised to increase their gifts to match your gift if given prior to the end of this calendar year.
There are two challenges in place. Several trustees have created the Power of Many Challenge by promising to increase their gifts from last year's level by up to $250,000. This challenge serves core donors - those alumni whom give what they can but give less than $1,000. From this trustee pool, core donors who make a gift of less than $1,000 prior to the close of business on December 31, 2008 will have their gifts matched dollar for dollar.
Additionally, there is the Together We Lead Challenge. This challenge supports those donors who make an Annual Fund gift of $1,000 s or more. It was created by another group of trustees who promised to make increased gifts of up to $250,000 when donors increase their Annual Fund gifts over last year's amount. Gifts increased to $1,000 will have that increase matched dollar for dollar. Further, to encourage membership in the new 1812 Leadership Circle, all donors who contribute at least $2,500 will trigger an additional match of $1,000. Up to $2,500 is available per person for up to $250,000 total.
