Hamilton College linebacker John Lawrence '10 (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville HS) and defensive lineman Burke St. John '11 (Chappaqua, N.Y./Deerfield Academy [Mass.]) were selected to the 2009 New England Small College Athletic Conference all-conference football team on Nov. 18.

Lawrence was voted to the first team on defense. He was on the second team in 2008 and named NESCAC rookie of the year in 2006. He tied for third place in the conference with 10.5 tackles per game. Lawrence finished the year with a career-high 63 stops, including 38 solo, in six games. He had an interception, two sacks, broke up four passes and forced a fumble.

St. John was named to the second team on defense. He tied for seventh in the conference with six sacks, and led the NESCAC with 15 tackles for a loss. He finished the year with a total of 51 tackles and forced two fumbles.

Hamilton ended the year with a record of 2-6. The Continentals ranked fifth in the NESCAC in rushing defense with 83.9 yards allowed per game on the ground. Hamilton tied for third with 24 sacks.
