Adrian Walsh '16 (Bozeman, Mont./Cate School [Calif.]) of the Hamilton College women's track & field team placed ninth in the women's 10,000-meter run at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Thursday night.

Walsh posted a time of 36:04.38 at Ohio Wesleyan University's Selby Stadium/George Gauthier Track in Delaware, Ohio. She missed an All-America award by one spot. SUNY Brockport's Rachel Malone '15 outkicked Walsh in the final few meters and finished eighth with a time of 36:04.17. The race winner was the University of La Verne's Lenore Moreno '14 in a stadium-record time of 34:25.39.

Walsh entered the meet seeded fourth in the 22-runner field. She posted a personal-best time of 35:36.93 in winning the 10,000 meters at the 2014 NESCAC Track & Field Championships on April 26 at Colby College. She also won a New York State Collegiate Track Conference title in the 10,000 meters this spring.

Walsh was making her third NCAA championship appearance in the past seven months. In November she was an individual qualifier for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships and placed 57th out of 280 runners. In March she finished ninth in the women's 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
