Williams College broke open a close game with seven runs in the final two innings and the visiting Ephs defeated Hamilton College 11-1 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference West Division game at Royce Field on April 17.

The teams will play a doubleheader at the same location on Saturday, April 18.

Wes Mayberry '11 went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run. Sam Choate '12 hit his eighth double and scored the lone run for a Hamilton offense that produced seven hits. Williams racked up 18 hits.

Hamilton (11-12 overall, 2-4 NESCAC West) faced a 4-0 deficit after seven innings. The Ephs sent three across the plate in the top half of the eighth to open a 7-0 lead. Choate led off the bottom of the inning with a double and advanced to third on a groundout. Mayberry sent him home with a single.

It was the only run the hosts could muster in the outing. Williams (15-7, 4-2) added four runs in the ninth and Hamilton left the bases loaded in its last at-bat.

Jake Saidman '09 started on the mound and took the loss for Hamilton. He struck out five batters in six innings and allowed four earned runs on 11 hits. Donovan Flint '11, Matt Mancini '10 and Alex Augustyn '10 pitched in relief.
