Williams College used a late scoring surge to hand visiting Hamilton College a 9-2 loss in New England Small College Athletic Conference West Division play at Cole Field on April 17.

The two teams will play a doubleheader at the same site on Saturday, April 18.

Megan Coughlin '09 boomed her third home run of the year. Kathryn Kroleski '09 hit a double and a single and scored a run. Leigh Sherrow '11 drove in the Continentals' only other run. Hamilton (5-19 overall, 1-5 NESCAC West) was outhit 13-5 by the hosts.

Hamilton led 1-0 after the second inning and 2-0 after the fourth. Coughlin knocked out a solo home run to left-center field with two out in the second to open the scoring. Sherrow sent Kroleski home in the fourth with a single to left field. Kroleski had reached base on a single to center field.

Williams (9-12, 4-3) ended its offensive silence with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good at 3-2. The Ephs exploded for six runs in the sixth. Hamilton stranded two runners in the seventh in its final chance to rally. Five errors by the Continentals led to five unearned runs.

Coughlin threw a complete game for Hamilton as she allowed four earned runs on 13 hits. She didn't walk anyone and didn't record a strikeout. The Hamilton defense turned three double plays.
