Hamilton College won the Tampa Mayor's Cup for the second straight year at the Tampa Bypass Canal in Florida on March 17.

Hamilton finished first out of nine competing programs with 44 points. Colgate University was runner-up with 32 points and Stetson University was third with 26. Hamilton won the varsity 8, the junior varsity 8, the varsity 4 and the junior varsity 4.

Results

All races were 1,500 meters in length. Weather conditions were sunny with temperatures topping out in the mid-80s.

The winning time for the varsity 8 was 5 minutes, 14.80 seconds. St. Lawrence University was right behind in 5:16.14. The coxswain was Kelsey Burke '13, Antonia Villa '12 was the stroke and Karly Moore '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows:  Rebecca Straw '14, Dominique Paiement '12, Allie Hoeltzel '14, Helen Higgins '13, Holly Bailey '12 and Leah Sorenson '14.

Hamilton's time in the junior varsity 8 was 5:26.99. Sophie Breene '12 was the coxswain, Keara Fenzel '14 was the stroke and Jess Pedersen '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows:  Ally Kontra '15, Erin Gerrity '15, Caroline Walton '15, Margaret Hylas '15, Virginia Slattery '12 and Rachel Johnson '13.

Hamilton finished second in the novice 8 with a time of 5:56.45. Lily Siff '15 was the coxswain, Emma Zanazzi '15 was the stroke and Meredith Garner '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows:  Hannah Zucker '15, Hideko Nara '15, Annie Lindahl '15, Grace Bowers '15, Margaret Smith '15 and Rachel Landman '15.

Hamilton's time of 5:55.25 in the varsity 4 was the fastest of six entries. Burke was the coxswain, Paiement was the stroke and Hoeltzel was in the bow seat. Bailey was 3-seat and Higgins was 2-seat.

Hamilton prevailed in the junior varsity 4 with a time of 6:05.00. Breene was the coxswain, Fenzel was the stroke and Slattery was in the bow seat. Walton was 3-seat and Gerrity was 2-seat.

Hamilton took third place in the novice 4 with a time of 6:31.48. Siff was the coxswain, Zanazzi was the stroke and Pedersen was in the bow seat. Kontra was 3-seat and Hylas was 2-seat.

Villa (2-seat) and Straw (1-seat) finished fourth with a time of 6:36.68 in the collegiate pairs.

Hamilton's next event is Sunday, April 1, when the team travels to Boston to race Tufts University and Tulane University.
