Hamilton College finished 11th of 27 boats in the open heavyweight championship eights at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia on Oct. 27.

Weather conditions were cloudy with a mild breeze and temperatures in the 60s. The race course was 2.5 miles long with a minimal current.

The Hamilton championship eights finished with a time of 14 minutes, 37.32 seconds. Michigan State’s "A" entry captured first place by a mere two-tenths of a second with a time of 13:56.45. Navy came in second and College of Holy Cross was third (14:05.18).

Hamilton had four boats finish three additional events including the novice fours, novice eights and open club eights. Hamilton's "B" entry in the club eights earned the program's best finish of the day with sixth place out of 31 boats in 15:00.59. Hamilton’s "A" entry finished 13th at 15:37.95. Trinity College’s "A" entry took first in 14:22.52 and Navy's "B" was runner-up (14:31.10).

In the novice eights, Hamilton placed eighth out of 27 boats in a time of 16:15.92. Old Dominion University cruised to the finish in first place with a time of 14:52.39 and Navy was second (15:05.37).

Hamilton placed eighth out of 12 boats in the novice fours with a time of 19:32.89. Villanova University won the race in a time of 16:49.48 and Holy Cross ended up in second place (16:59.32).

Kelsey Burke '13 was coxswain for the championship eights.  The rest of the boat included Rachel Johnson '13 at stroke, Karly Moore '15 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Becca Straw '14, Margaret Hylas '15, Caroline Walton '15, Helen Higgins '13, Jess Pedersen '15 and Erin Gerrity '15.

Amy Song '16 was coxswain for the novice fours. The boat included Taylor Healy '15 at stroke, Erin Bernard '16 in the bow seat, Laura Rivera '16 in the 3-seat and Sarah Moore '16 in the 2-seat.

Heather Piekarz '16 was coxswain for the novice eights. Jess Sofen '16 was at stroke and Lia Parker-Belfer '16 was in the bow seat. The rest of the boat included the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Keara Lynn '16, Julia Coash '16, Rachel Feuerstein '16, Healy, Mollie Major '14 and Kate Schramm '16.

Piekarz was also coxswain for the club eights "B" entry. Gerrity was at stroke and Pedersen was in the bow seat. The rest of the boat included the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Moore, Higgins, Walton, Hannah Zucker '15, Meredith Garner '15 and Rachel Landman '15.

Burke was the coxswain for the club eights "A" entry. The rest of the boat included Emma Zanazzi '15 at stroke, Ally Kontra '15 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Fiona Hoffman-Harland '13, Hylas, Annie Lindahl '15, Grace Bowers '15, Lynn and Johnson.

Hamilton has completed its fall rowing schedule.
