Hamilton College finished first in the varsity four and won the overall team points trophy at the Tampa Mayor’s Cup held on the Tampa Bypass Canal in Tampa, Fla., on March 19.

The first varsity four entry finished in 6 minutes, 00.10 seconds. Hamilton’s second entry took sixth place in 6:43.11. Prior to the finals, Hamilton placed first in the second heat in 6:08.20 and the other entry finished second in the first heat in 6:29.56.

Hamilton’s novice four took first place with a time of 6:14.60, more than 15 seconds ahead of their competitors. The varsity eight finished second in 5:33.87, and St. Lawrence University took first place in 5:24.80. The junior varsity eight also finished second with a time of 5:35.53.

Hamilton finished third in the double in 6:56.20. Two entries in the junior varsity four placed third and fourth in 6:34.97 and 6:41.10, respectively.

Catherine Florea ’11 was coxswain for the varsity four “A”. The rest of the boat included Rachel Johnson ‘13 at stroke, Alice Dannenberg ’11 in the bow seat, Fiona Hoffman-Harland ’13 in 3-seat and Leah Sorenson ’14 in 2-seat.

Kelsey Burke ’13 was coxswain for the varsity four “B”. The rest of the boat included Antonia Villa ’12 at Stroke, Allie Boyaris ‘12 in the bow seat, Becca Straw ’14 in 3-seat and Helen Higgins ‘13 in 2-seat.

Keara Fenzel ‘14 was coxswain for the novice four. The rest of the boat included Allie Hoeltzel ‘14 at stroke, Hannah Carlisle ‘14 in the bow seat,  Straw in 3-seat and Sorensen in 2-seat.

Burke was coxswain for the varsity eight. The rest of the boat included Rachel Johnson '13 at stroke, Hoffman-Harland in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Boyaris, Villa, Straw, Higgins and Dannenberg, Sorensen.

Sophie Breene ‘12 was coxswain for the JV eight. The rest of the boat included Keara Fenzel '14 at stroke, Iris Greenquist ‘13 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Katie Peterson ‘12, Hoeltzel, Meg Schlosser ‘13, Michelle Shafer ‘14, Virginia Slattery ‘13 and Dominique Paiement ‘13.

Sophie Breen ’12 was coxswain for the JV four “A”. The rest of the boat included Fenzel at stroke, Greenquist at bow seat, Slattery in 3-seat and Paiement in 2-seat.

Florea was coxswain for the varsity 4 “B”. The rest of the boat included Pam Lewis ’11 at stroke, Schlosser at bow seat, Katie Peterson ’12 in 3-seat and Ally Fried ’13 in 2-seat.

Lewis and Peterson were the rowers in the women’s double.

Hamilton will row against Union College for the Gilman Plate and Cup on Saturday, April 2.
