Three Hamilton College players earned all-region status as the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/US Lacrosse All-America committee selected the 160 honorees from all five regions on May 19.
Each region named 32 athletes to either the First or Second Team. All honorees are eligible for All-America honors. The IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America teams will be announced on Sunday, May 22.
Inga Stots '07 (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Millbrook School) and Amanda Hollis '05 (Wellesley, Mass./Milton Academy) were placed on the New York Region's First Team at attack and defense, respectively. Midfielder Jen McGowan '08 (Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union HS) made the Second Team.
Hollis also made the all-region Second Team in 2004. She was a Liberty League and New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) First Team selection this year. Hollis picked up 37 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers. She is a big reason why the Continentals allowed just 17.5 shots on goal per game this year.
Stots also was placed on the Liberty League First Team and the NYSWCAA Second Team this year. She scored 41 goals and was credited with nine assists for a total of 50 points. Stots' 41 goals was good for tenth on the program's all-time list for most goals in one season. She easily led the team with 35 draw controls.
McGowan was fourth on the team with 19 goals and 21 points. McGowan picked up 28 ground balls, won 17 draw controls and caused 10 turnovers. Hamilton finished the year with a 9-7 record and participated in the postseason for the seventh straight season by qualifying for the league championship semifinals.
