Hamilton College captured its first New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships title in the varsity 8 on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Saturday.

Racing conditions were sunny and 70 degrees with a slight headwind in the afternoon. The course was 2,000 meters in length.

Hamilton's nationally ranked No. 5 varsity eight finished first in the grand final with a time of 7:05.200. No. 8 Ithaca College was runner-up in 7:10.629, No. 13 Rochester Institute of Technology was third in 7:12.430 and No. 10 William Smith College ended up fourth in 7:13.223.

In the varsity 4, the Continentals took first place in the petite final with a time of 9:01.800. Army's "B" entry was second in 9:06.305.

Hamilton's second varsity 8 won its heat with the fastest time of the two heats in 7:38.000 and went on to place fifth in the JV 8 grand final with a time of 7:48.156. Ithaca's "A" entry took first place in 7:37.900.

In the pairs race, the Continentals finished fourth in 10:08.077. Army captured the top spot with a time of 9:07.920.
