Women's tennis shuts out Utica


Hamilton College blanked Utica College 9-0 in a non-conference match at Hamilton's Gray Tennis Courts on Sept. 25.

RESULTS

The Continentals (2-0 overall) dropped a total of just seven games in the three doubles and six singles matches. Utica remained winless in eight matches.

Rachel Friedman '15 improved to 4-0 in her singles and doubles matches this season. Friedman posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at second flight singles and teamed with Emily Chan '16 for an 8-1 victory at second flight doubles. Chan was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at fifth singles.

Sara Shaughnessy '14 and Mei Lin Pratt '16, who cruised to an 8-0 decision at third doubles, recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories at third and fourth singles, respectively. The first flight doubles team of Liz Detwiler '15 and Meg Lee '14 breezed to an 8-1 win. Lee didn’t drop a game in her sixth flight singles victory.

Bella Schoning '16 rounded out Hamilton’s winners with a score of 6-0, 6-1 at first singles. The Continentals return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 1, with a non-conference match at SUNY Cortland.
