Women's tennis falls to William Smith
William Smith College won five of six singles matches and rallied to defeat Hamilton College 6-3 in a non-conference match at Hamilton's Gray Tennis Courts on Oct. 2.
Deborah Barany '11 improved her singles record to 4-1 and posted an easy doubles victory for Hamilton. Barany outlasted her opponent in three sets (2-6, 6-2, 6-1) at first flight singles. She paired up with Melissa Mann '13 for an 8-1 rout at first flight doubles.
The Continentals (1-1 overall) enjoyed a 2-1 advantage after doubles play thanks to another win at third flight courtesy of Alex Arenson '13 and Meg Lee '14. Arenson and Lee prevailed 8-3.
The Herons (1-0) won two of their five singles matches in three sets. Hamilton would have pulled out a 5-4 victory if those two matches had gone its way.
The Continentals are off until the spring season, which starts in March.
