Muriel Schwinn '13 set a school record and tied another as Hamilton College competed in the multi-divisional, non-team scoring Syracuse University Invitational held at Manley Field House on Feb. 6.
 
Schwinn finished third and qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III championships in two events for the Continentals. She took third in the 55-meter dash finals with a time of 7.50 seconds that ties the school record set by Alexandra Americanos ’10 on Feb. 16, 2008.

Schwinn also finished third in the long jump. Her mark of 5.35 meters (17-feet-6 ¾) set a team record. The previous record of 5.27 meters was set by Akilah Bond '09 on Feb. 28, 2009. In the 200-meter dash, Schwinn claimed eighth place with a time of 27.64 seconds, which was the fourth-best time by a Division III athlete.
 
Americanos earned fifth place in the 55 meter finals with a time of 7.64 seconds. Right behind her was Liz Wahl ‘10, who finished sixth, clocking a time of 7.66 seconds.
 
The Continentals next compete on Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Liberty League championships at St. Lawrence University.
