SUNY Morrisville edged visiting Hamilton College in five sets in a non-conference match played at Morrisville's Student Activities Building on Oct. 21.

Hamilton (8-18 overall) won the first and fourth sets. Morrisville (7-22) captured the second, third and fifth sets. The scores were 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 15-8.

Rachel Irizarry '12 pounded a season-high 14 kills and added four aces for the Continentals. Alex Singh '11 hammered 10 kills and Kristen Selden '09 had eight. Amber O'Connor '09 led the defense with a season-best 33 digs. O'Connor leads the New England Small College Athletic Conference with 5.01 digs per set.

Kelsey Lawler '11 served a season-high 10 aces and was credited with 28 assists. The team finished with 23 aces. Liz Reid '11 blocked six attack attempts.

Hamilton trailed just 11-8 in the final set, but the Mustangs served the next four points to clinch the victory. The Continentals travel to SUNY Institute of Technology for a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, Oct. 25. Hamilton plays the hosts at 11 a.m. and takes on SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m.
