Hamilton’s women’s volleyball team raised more than $1,000 for its 2015 Dig Pink campaign. Dig Pink is an initiative of the Side-Out Foundation. Funds raised for Side-Out enable scientists to continue their research studying patient tumors to determine the best treatment for patients with stage 4 (metastatic) breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease and the least funded area of research.

The $1,114 total raised by the Continentals was more than double the team’s goal of $500.  The women raised funds through several activities. Families and friends donated items such as gift cards and gift baskets to raffle off at a game earlier this season. The team coordinated with the Outback Steakhouse for a Give Back Night in which 15% of all bills from one night in October were donated toward the cause. Finally, team members’ families donated more than $300 through the team’s Dig-Pink website.

When not raising funds, the women’s volleyball team has been working with Clinton High School and showing support for their girls’ volleyball program. Members of Hamilton’s team have attended two of Clinton’s home games and Clinton team members have also attended Hamilton matches this fall.
