Ally Martella '13 led Hamilton College to a three-set win against Bates College in a NESCAC match played at Williams College's Chandler Gym on Oct. 7.

Hamilton (9-7 overall, 1-5 NESCAC) won its first conference match since Oct. 9, 2010. Bates (2-13, 0-5) lost its third straight match. The set scores were 25-15, 25-16 and 25-16.

Martella posted six blocks, a team-high five aces and added three kills. Amanda Cohen '13 paced the Continentals with six kills. Meredith Nuber '14 recorded six blocks and three kills, and Ava Kelley '15 chipped in three blocks and three kills.

Anna Brown '15 boasted 18 digs and three aces. Cecelie Pikus '13 was credited with 10 assists and Sarah Pfund '14 had eight. Erin Casey '15 finished with three blocks.

Hamilton plays two more NESCAC matches at Williams on Saturday, Oct. 8. The Continentals take on Colby College at 11 a.m., followed by a meeting with conference leader Bowdoin College at 1:30 p.m.
