Ice is dangerous territory for most people, but not for Zoë Baldwin -- it's her natural environment. Since she was five years old, growing up in Ottawa, Ontario, Zoë has spent a good chunk of time on the ice, armed with skates, a helmet, stick and puck, playing -- and loving -- the game of hockey.

Hockey brought her to Hamilton from Deerfield Academy, and she has taken full advantage of the opportunity to play here.  As a forward and Assistant Captain, Zoë has led the Continentals to many victories, and she says that hockey will always be a major part of her life.

"I just really love hockey and always want to be a part of it; that's why I want to coach after graduation," she said.  She has worked at hockey camps during the past six summers, including the past three summers as a counselor at Hamilton's girls' hockey camp.

When her skates hit the ice, Zoë's skill and talent take over, and there's no question that she's a star.  She was named Rookie of the Year during the 2002-03 season, she became the fourth women's player at Hamilton to reach 100 points this past February, she was selected for the 2004-05 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Ice Hockey Second Team this past March, and she  finished last season second in the conference with 23 goals.

But the Sage Rink isn't the only place you'll find Zoë.  In addition to devoting at least two hours of her day, six days a week, to hockey during the regular season and training extensively during the off season, she is deeply involved in the College community.

This past spring, Zoë was appointed president of the class of 2006, and she will also serve as secretary and treasurer of her class within the Student Assembly. She is part of the Newman Council, organizes the college's fall Relay for Life, is head of the Food Committee and has held internships on campus, as well.  At the College's annual Class & Charter Day Awards Ceremony, Zoë, a religious studies major and French minor, won several awards and was recognized for her leadership within her class and her work in the Student Assembly.

After graduating, Zoë plans to take her love of hockey to a prep school, where, as a teacher or administrator and coach, she can share her enthusiasm and knowledge with future hockey stars.
