Wilmington, N.C., ASB Group Gathers With Area Alumni

Students who traveled to Wilmington, N.C., for Alternative Spring Break last week gathered at the home of Executive Director of Principal Gifts Mary Evans '82 for a dinner party. They were also joined by Missy '79 and Andy '70 Kennedy, and Durwood '67 and Gloria Almkuist. Alumnus/Parents Provide Southern Hospitality to ASB Group
Steve Talevi ’79, P’10 and his wife Jacqueline opened their home to a group of Hamilton students on an Alternative Spring Break trip in March. The students, who volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Mississippi, spent a night at the Talevi’s home in Roanoke, Va., as a halfway point on their way back to campus. Burgaw, N.C., ASB Group Welcomed by Local Alumni
A group of nine Hamilton students traveled to Burgaw Elementary School near Wilmington, N.C., on their Alternative Spring Break trip, March 21-27. Through this outreach program, they’re helping students with homework and participating in after-school activities. Students on the trip are Trang Nyugen '13, Jennifer Hightower '12, Kristen Scherb '13, Spencer Gulbronson '12, Clare Browne '12, Joelle  Adler '13, Meghan Woolley '13, Ada Horne '13, and Meghan Carter '12. Alternative Spring Breakers Hit the Road to Volunteer

While many undergraduates head home or to balmy beach resorts to rest up after grueling midterms, 98 Hamilton students will drive south to volunteer at nonprofit organizations in nine cities during Spring Break, March 13-28. This year marks Hamilton's 17th Alternative Spring Break (ASB), an annual volunteer venture that consists of nine different community service trips to non-profit organizations in the south.  More ...

Annual ASB Auction is March 4
The Alternative Spring Break (ASB) Auction will take place on Thursday, March 4, in the Annex/Tolles Pavilion. This annual fundraiser will help support the 100 Hamilton students participating in nine ASB trips this year. The silent auction will go from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 5 p.m. Free Tex Mex will be served at around 4 p.m. Come bid on lobsters, reserved Commencement seats, a one week vacation, paintings, gift certificates to area restaurants, shops and spas, among many other great items.

Hamilton Named to Presidential Honor Roll For Community Service
The Corporation for National and Community Service named Hamilton as one of the colleges included on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to America’s communities. The announcement was made on Feb. 25.
