Dave Thompson, director of the Charlean and Wayland Blood Fitness and Dance Center, director of Campus Wellness and professor of physical education at Hamilton, was honored as the 2013 Distinguished Service Award recipient by Hamilton’s Alumni Association. John Hadity ’83, president of the Alumni Association, presented the award on April 5 during the Alumni Council’s Recognition dinner.

Blood Fitness Center Acquires New Equipment

State-of-the-art Exercise Equipment Offers Something for All

Hamilton’s state-of-the art fitness center just got a bit more hi-tech with the replacement of 50 pieces of exercise equipment.  The Charlean and Wayland Blood Fitness and Dance Center was closed during last week’s fall recess in order to remove the old machines and bring in and install the new equipment.

Lauren Duncan ’10 Gives the Climbing Wall a Hand

For outdoor enthusiasts, few things are as appealing and exciting as biking, hiking and rock climbing. All three of these require physical strength and substantial amounts of movement. But on the Bruce Climbing Wall in Hamilton’s Blood Fitness Center, climbers are lent a helping hand—literally. In conjunction with Art 307, Advanced 3D and Material Studies, under Assistant Professor of Art Rebecca Murtaugh, environmental studies major Lauren Duncan ’10 created hand-shaped climbing wall holds that are not only artistic and significant, but also functional.
