William Billiter, director of foundation, corporate and government relations, has written a book of poetry titled Stutter (University of Georgia Press, April 1, 2011). Stutter was a winner in the 2010 National Poetry Series, an award program judged by distinguished national poets.

Award-winning Hamilton Poets to Read at KAC

Three award-winning Hamilton poets will read in “Winning Words” on Saturday, April 16, at the Kirkland Art Center. Readings by William Billiter, Naomi Guttman and Jane Springer will follow a reception at 7:30 p.m. The event marks National Poetry Month and is free and open to the public.

Springer Publishes Six Poems in The Southern Review

Visiting Assistant Professor of English Jane Springer has six new poems published in this spring’s issue of The Southern Review. The poems are titled “Looks Like the Hound That Caught the Car”; “Nocturne: So Mixed Up She Don’t Know Daylight from Dark”; “In a Coon’s Age”;   “Don’t Know a Stranger”; “I’ll Wear the Hound out of That”; and “Pretty As You Please.” The Southern Review is published by Louisiana State University.

Associate Professor of English Steven Yao delivered a lecture titled "Global Literary Studies and the Rising Tide of the Transpacific," as part of the Faculty Research Colloquium Series at UMass, Amherst, on March 1. While there, he also taught a graduate seminar on Global Modernisms.

Second National Writing Award for English & Creative Writing Faculty This Year

Hamilton College Visiting Assistant Professor of English Jane Springer has been named one of 10 recipients of the 2010 Whiting Writers’ Award by the Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation. The awards of $50,000 each have been given annually since 1985 to writers of exceptional talent and promise in early career.
