On The Hill Receives Arline Custer Memorial Award

On the Hill: A Bicentennial History of Hamilton College, written by Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History Maurice Isserman, received the 2012 Arline Custer Memorial Award for books from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC). The award was presented on Oct. 27 in Richmond, Va.

O'Neal's paper, "Rousseau à l'âge de Facebook: l'authenticité et le défi de l'opinion publique dans les Dialogues," was given at the Université Stendhal-Grenoble 3 on Oct. 19.

Assistant Professor of Chemistry Adam W. Van Wynsberghe presented a seminar titled “Hitting the Target: Simulations of the ligand binding pathways of influenza neuraminidase” on Oct. 16 at Colgate University. The seminar was co-sponsored by Colgate’s chemistry and biology departments and primarily described the work of three undergraduate researchers in the Van Wynsberghe lab: Erica Losito ’12 and Carmen Montagnon ’13, as well as Jeffrey Sung of the University of California-San Diego.

The symposium was held Oct. 6-10 in Manteo, N.C., to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the outdoor pageant The Lost Colony.

Assistant Professor of Physics Natalia Connolly was a co-author of an article published in the Sept. 20 issue of The Astrophysical Journal. The article, “The BOSS Emission-Line Lens Survey. II. Investigating Mass-density Profile Evolution in the SLACS+BELLS Strong Gravitational Lens Sample,” presents the results of research into possible ways in which the density in the centers of the biggest galaxies has increased over the last six billion years.
