Two articles by Christian A. Johnson Excellence in Teaching Professor of Biology Ernest Williams were published recently. “Long term effects of climate on two pond predators” appeared in the April issue of American Midland Naturalist, an international journal on ecology, evolution and the environment. Previously available only online, “Decline of monarch butterflies overwintering in Mexico: Is the migratory phenomenon at risk?” was published in the March print issue of Insect Conservation and Diversity.  More ...

At the invitation of Professor Ursula Goldbaum, Heidi M. Ravven, professor of religious studies, was appointed to a dissertation committee of the Philosophy Department of Emory University.  Ravven evaluated the dissertation, "Determinism, Freedom, and Ethics: Spinozistic Interventions in the Contemporary Discussions of Responsibility" of Christopher Ryszard Kluz, for the Ph.D. in philosophy.  More ...

Isserman Interviewed on Carnegie Mellon-based Radio

Maurice Isserman, the Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History, was interviewed by WRCT’s History for the Future, about the 50th anniversary of the publication of The Other America: Poverty in the United States by Michael Harrington. Isserman, Harrington’s biographer, wrote a new introduction for the 50th anniversary edition of the book. The interview, airing in Pittsburgh (88.3 fm) on Tuesday, May 1, and Wednesday, May 2,  is also available through the show's website and at the iTunes podcast page.  More ...
