Stephen Okin '10, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright Grant to Barbados. He will pursue a master’s degree in integration studies at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus in Barbados. Through his project Okin seeks to understand the role regional cooperation plays in the eastern Caribbean, which faces unique challenges due to its history, geography and limited resources. Specifically he’ll focus on security cooperation by volunteering at a regional security organization. More ...

Two Hamilton seniors, Phillip Milner and Tom Morrell, have been awarded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. Milner is a chemistry/math double major who will be starting a Ph.D. program in chemistry in the fall, at an institution yet to be determined. They are among 278 scholars from across the U.S. to receive the Goldwater, the premier national undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering. Lydia Rono ’11 Awarded Davis Peace Project Fellowship for School Building Project in Kenya
Lydia Rono ’11 has been awarded a Davis Peace Project Fellowship program grant of $10,000. Through her project, titled Education for Peace, she hopes to build one secondary school classroom and one rest room in Barekeiwo Village in Kenya, thus qualifying Barekeiwo High School for Kenyan government educational funding. Seniors Kevin Rowe and Max Wall Awarded Prestigious Watson Fellowships
Hamilton seniors Kevin Rowe and Max Wall have been awarded prestigious Thomas J. Watson Fellowships for 2010-11. Rowe’s project is titled “Farm to Table: New World Cities and the Changing Landscape of Cuisine” and Wall’s is “Preserving Cultures: Exploring Fermented Foodways.” The two were among only 40 national winners of the Fellowships. This year, 150 finalists competed on the national level, after their institutions nominated them in the autumn. Each fellow receives $25,000 for a year of travel and exploration outside the U.S. More ...
