Caroline Winterer, professor of history and classics at Stanford University, will present a lecture, “The Classical World of Alexander Hamilton,” on Monday, April 16, at 4:10 p.m., in the Taylor Science Center Kennedy Auditorium. The lecture is sponsored by the Classics Department and is free and open to the public.

Class Visits Home of Alexander Hamilton, N.Y. Historical Society

On Saturday, April 7, a group of students enrolled in "The Classical Tradition in American Political Life: Cicero, Jefferson, and Hamilton," a course taught by Frank Anechiarico '71, Maynard Knox Professor of Government and Law, and Carl Rubino, Winslow Professor of Classics, traveled to New York City to visit the New York Historical Society and the Grange, the home that Alexander Hamilton built for himself and his family.

Hamilton’s highest awards for teaching were presented at Class & Charter Day on May 6 to  Professor of Economics Elizabeth Jensen, Professor of English and Creative Writing Doran Larson, Associate Professor of Women’s Studies Anne Lacsamana and Assistant Professor of Philosophy Russell Marcus. Frank Anechiarico '71, the Maynard-Knox Professor of Government and Law, was presented with the Sidney Wertimer Award by the Student Assembly.

Hamilton has no formal pre-law program, but that doesn’t stop a large number of graduates, many of whom have degrees in economics or government, from pursuing a law degree after Hamilton. With so many students choosing law school, some faculty members ask “How do we better prepare students with interests in becoming lawyers?” The possible solution?
