Senior Art Concentrators, Faculty Make Annual Trek to NYC Studios

February 4, 2013 

After their original plans to visit the studios of professional artists fell through in October due to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, nine senior art concentrators and art faculty were able to reschedule the always-anticipated trip and visit New York City on Jan. 24-27.

Kuharic’s Painting in PAFA Exhibition

“Priestess,” a painting by Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic, is currently on display at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) in an exhibition of more than 200 works from the Linda Lee Alter Collection of Art by Women.

Dean's Scholarly Achievement Awards Presented to Six Faculty Members

Six members of the Hamilton faculty were recognized for their research and creative successes with the Dean’s Scholarly Achievement Awards, presented by Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds at Class & Charter Day on Friday, May 4. The Awards recognize individual accomplishments, but reflect a richness and depth of scholarship and creative activity across the entire faculty.  The awards were made in three categories: Career Achievement, Early Career Achievement and Notable Year Achievement.

Kuharic’s Painting Added to PAFA Permanent Collection

“Priestess,” a painting by Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic, was recently added to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) permanent collection. The painting is included in “The Linda Lee Alter Collection of Art by Women,” acquired through a gift to PAFA.

Kuharic to Lecture in San Francisco

Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic will present “Pound of Flesh,” a lecture about her recent work, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at noon, in Chestnut Lecture Hall at the San Francisco Art Institute. The lecture is open to the public.

Kuharic Exhibit to Host Poetry Reading

In conjunction with Kevin Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic’s exhibition at P.P.O.W Gallery in New York City, poets Linda Norton, Wayne Koestenbaum and Eileen Myles will read from their work tonight (Nov. 1) at 6:30 p.m. Kuharic’s solo exhibition is titled Pound of Flesh and will be on display through Nov. 12 at P.P.O.W., located at 535 West 22nd Street.

Hand/Eye Magazine Publishes Kuharic Essay

October 16, 2011 

An essay titled “On the Habits and Messages of Yellow” by Kevin Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic appears in the 06/Global Color issue of Hand/Eye magazine. The publication, whose focus is “about connecting cultures and inspiring action,” dedicated this issue to the topic of color. In her essay, Kuharic shares her thoughts on yellow’s relevance to us. The article also includes a full page image of one of her paintings titled “Jack’s Original.”

Five Faculty Members Promoted to Professor

Franklin, Janack, Kuharic, Walczyk and Yao

August 26, 2011 

Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds announced the promotion of five Hamilton faculty members to the rank of professor.  Todd Franklin, philosophy; Marianne Janack, philosophy; Katherine Kuharic, art; Bruce Walczyk, dance and movement studies; and Steven Yao, English and creative writing, were promoted effective July 1.
