Genevieve Caffrey ’17 recently completed a summer internship with one office of the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&PI), under the Department of Children and Families, in Cranford, NJ. Caffrey’s internship was supported by the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center through a Levitt Public Service Internship Award, awards which provide funding to students taking up unpaid or minimally-paid summer work focused on public service.  More ...

Four Hamilton Students Take Global Stage

Four Hamilton students who have created meaningful projects to address global problems through their work with the Levitt Public Affairs Center had the opportunity to share their ideas on a much larger stage when they were chosen to attend the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in Miami on March 6-8. Nick Solano '14 Heads Rebuilding Together Mohawk Valley

Rebuilding Together is the largest national volunteer home rehabilitation organization in the United States. The local branch, Rebuilding Together Mohawk Valley (RTMV), has been assisting the elderly, physically and mentally disabled, and working poor in the local area since 1997.  Nick Solano ’14 began working with RTMV during his sophomore year and was recently appointed executive director of the local organization.  More ...

As an Environmental Studies major with a concentration in Women’s Studies, Lauren Howe ’13 has always been interested in working with non-profit organizations dealing with relevant environmental issues. Hodzic ’13 Examines Human Labor Trafficking Through U.N. Internship

The issue of human sex trafficking has long been on the radar of international lawmakers and humanitarian organizations, but the recently emerged problem of human labor trafficking is just now beginning to come under national and international scrutiny. Jasmina Hodzic ’13 is interning at the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of a Levitt Center Public Service Grant.  More ...

Heart of America Internship Inspires Jose Vazquez ’15 to Seek Education Reform

A Levitt Public Service internship this summer has solidified Jose Vazquez’s ’15 desire to pursue a career in education policy and reform. Vazquez is in Washington D.C. as an intern for The Heart of America Foundation, a non-profit organization that builds libraries for under-resourced schools across the nation.  The organization partners with Target and embarks on their 15th year anniversary building 150+ libraries nationwide.  More ...

Catherine Gold '14 Interning at Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Catherine Gold ’14 took advantage of the Career Center’s HamiltonExplore career shadowing program in January by spending a day with Meg Harrison ’91, patient services manager at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in New York City. Now, six months later Gold is a Levitt Public Service Intern there, thanks in large part to the connection she made through HamiltonExplore.  More ...
