Economics Students Take Second in Fed Challenge Finals

A team of Hamilton economics students took second place in the annual Fed Challenge in New York City on Nov. 14. This was Hamilton’s  best finish to date and  the second year in a row that the Hamilton team advanced to the final round. The Challenge is a team competition for undergraduate college students inspired by the working of the Federal Open Market Committee. Economics Students Win Fed Challenge First Round

Hamilton students won the first round of the College Fed Challenge competition  on Friday, Nov. 9. The team of presenters - seniors Eric Boole, Danny Kaufman, Aislinn Shea and Amanda Thorman - advance to the semi-final round of the challenge to be held at the New York Federal Reserve on Wednesday, November 14. Levitt Center to Host Upstate Fed Challenge

Hamilton’s Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center will host the upstate competition of the College Fed Challenge on Friday, Nov. 9.  The Challenge is a team competition for undergraduate college students inspired by the working of the Federal Open Market Committee. Hamilton will be represented by students in Professor of Economics Ann Owen’s Monetary Policy class. The students presenting are seniors Eric Boole, Danny Kaufman, Aislinn Shea and Amanda Thorman.  The entire class participates, with some doing the presenting and others helping them to prepare.  More ...

Monetary Policy Students Advance to Final Round of Fed Challenge

Students in Hamilton's Monetary Policy class traveled to the New York Federal Reserve Bank on Nov. 16 and competed in the semi-final round of the Fed Challenge in the morning, advancing to the final round in the afternoon.  They were awarded an Honorable Mention for their performance overall and were recognized with a special award for "best teamwork."  More ...

Monetary Policy Class Attends Federal Reserve Seminar
On Oct. 2, students in Professor of Economics Ann Owen's monetary policy class visited New York City to attend a seminar presented by New York Federal Reserve economists. The students attended sessions on the current economic situation, the labor market and the financial crisis. The seminar served as an orientation to a national competition, the Fed Challenge, sponsored by the Federal Reserve and the Eastern Economic Association. More ...
