Professor of Music Michael "Doc" Woods was honored with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Outstanding Community Service by the Mohawk Valley Frontiers Club at a luncheon on Jan. 19. The club sponsors or contributes to many community service programs in the Mohawk Valley.

Music Department Hosts International Conducting Workshop
The Hamilton music department is hosting the International Academy of Advanced Conducting after Ilya Musin, a conducting workshop with two renowned teachers who studied with the 20th century Russian pedagogue Ilya Musin, from Jan. 21 to Jan. 25.
The Hamilton Orchestra will act as the host ensemble playing for the workshop. The final performance  will take place at noon on Sunday, Jan. 25, in Wellin Hall and is free and open to the public. More ...
Graduating Musicians to Perform in Senior Concert
Graduating musicians will perform in the Music Department's annual Senior Concert on Saturday, May 24 at 9 p.m. in Wellin Hall. Members of the class of 2008 making their final appearance are Kate Berlent, alto saxophone; Christopher Boveroux, tenor and conductor; Joshua Cheung, piano; Kimberly Craig, soprano; Julianne Jaquith, soprano; Kara Novak, clarinet; Albert Trithart, violin; and Sarah Wissel, flute. The College Hill Singers will also perform. Accompanists are Jason Oberholtzer, Colleen Roberts Pellman and Sar-Shalom Strong. The concert is free and open to the public. More ...
Bayolo Awarded Brandon Fradd Fellowship in Music Composition From Cintas Foundation
Armando Bayolo, visiting assistant professor of music, was announced as the 2008 recipient of the Brandon Fradd fellowship in music composition from the Cintas Foundation, a foundation dedicated to the promotion of Cuban and Cuban-American art. The Brandon Fradd fellowship is a $15,000 award to be used for career development.
