Making a Musical

A lot happened before the Theatre Department’s musical Spring Awakening opened on April 14 in the Eugene Romano Theatre.  Starting with auditions in February the production took shape as  sets were  designed, music was learned, costumes were made and many hours of rehearsals were held. College photographer Nancy Ford spent the last two months capturing what went on behind the scenes before actors took the stage.  Take a look at what goes in to the making of a musical.  More ...

Theatre Department Presents Musical Spring Awakening

The Hamilton College Theatre Department presents the spring production of the musical Spring Awakening, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, and music by Duncan Sheik. Based on Frank Wedekind’s provocative play, the Tony Award-winning Spring Awakening explores the conflict between repressive adult society and adolescent sexual awakenings in 19th century Germany. It's directed by Professor of Theatre Craig Latrell, with music direction by Karen Corigliano and choreography by Professor of Dance Elaine Heekin.  More ...

Rowe's Jazz Session Reaches 600+ Around the World

“I'm playing this out the window to the monkeys... The monkeys are still there...so you didn't scare them off. I thought they only liked classical music,” exclaimed a Costa Rican listener to the livestreamed jazz program delivered by Fillius Jazz Archive Director Monk Rowe as part of his edX course on March 6.
