The Hamilton College and Community Masterworks Chorale with the Hamilton College Choir and members of Symphoria will perform a concert version of Camille Saint-Saëns Samson et Dalila (Samson and Delilah) on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

Theatre Department Presents The Marriage of Bette and Boo

April 18, 2013 

The Hamilton College Theatre Department announces the spring theater production, The Marriage of Bette and Boo by Christopher Durang. Performances will run Thursday, April 18 – Saturday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m., and Thursday, April 25 – Saturday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. There are two additional performances at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, and Saturday, April 27. All performances take place in Minor Theater on the Hamilton campus.

Hamilton Presents Jazz and Choral Music April 12 and 13

April 12, 2013 

Hamilton College presents free jazz and choral music this weekend in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. On Friday, April 12, jazz guitarists Gene Bertoncini and Rick Balestra will present an acoustic concert of jazz standards and music from the great American songbook. On Saturday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m., the Hamilton College Choir performs the home concert of their recently completed Italian Spring Break Tour.

The Tamagawa University Taiko (Drum) and Dance Group will give a workshop and performance on Wednesday, April 3, in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. The workshop will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and the performance will follow at 7 p.m.  The workshop and performance are free and open to the public.

Hamilton Choir Sings its Way Through Italy

March 28, 2013 

As is its every-four-years tradition, the Hamilton College choir is spending part of its spring break performing in Italy.  The students are on the choir’s eighth European concert tour under the direction of G. Roberts Kolb, professor of music and director of choral music at Hamilton. While the choir tours a region of the United States every March, the European tour is a special privilege that comes only once every four years.

The Hamilton College Department of Music presents a faculty recital for solo piano featuring Sar-Shalom Strong on Sunday, March 3, at 3 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. He will present Lesser-Mined Gems, v. 2.0, a recital of rarely performed music for piano. The concert, which is free and open to the public, includes music by Bach, Fauré, and Janácek, with informal commentary on the composers and the music.
