Marianne Janack's essay, "On Love and Virtue: a Commentary on Raja Halwani," has just been published in the volume titled Sex, Love, and Friendship by Rodopi Publishers.  Janack is the Sidney WertimerAssociate Professor of Philosophy.  The volume is a collection of papers presented at the annual conferences of the Society for the Philosophy of Sex and Love from 1993-2003.

Hamilton’s highest awards for teaching were presented at Class & Charter Day on May 6 to  Professor of Economics Elizabeth Jensen, Professor of English and Creative Writing Doran Larson, Associate Professor of Women’s Studies Anne Lacsamana and Assistant Professor of Philosophy Russell Marcus. Frank Anechiarico '71, the Maynard-Knox Professor of Government and Law, was presented with the Sidney Wertimer Award by the Student Assembly.

Associate Professor of Philosophy A. Todd Franklin chaired a roundtable discussion, “Fragmented Communities: One History, Several Memories,” at a UNESCO conference titled “Philosophical Dialogue between Africa and the Americas” held April 18-21 at Purdue University.

Associate Professor of Philosophy A. Todd Franklin chaired an invited symposium, “Frederick Douglass, Slavery, and the Existential Self,” at the Central Division Meeting of the American Philosophical Association held March 30 – April 2 in Minneapolis.

Marianne Janack, the Sidney Wertimer Associate Professor of Philosophy, recently published "The Problem of Experience," in Vol. XL/2 of International Studies in Philosophy. It is an essay on the ways in which philosophers in the Anglo-American Analytic and Continental traditions have criticized appeals to experience in discussions of politics and knowledge.

Assistant Professor of Philosophy Russell Marcus presented his paper "The Explanatory Indispensability Argument" at the Eastern Division Meeting of the American Philosophical Association in Boston on Dec. 30.

Assistant Professor of Philosophy Russell Marcus published a book review in The APA Newsletters (Fall 2010). Marcus reviewed The Ontological Argument from Descartes to Hegel, by Kevin J. Harrelson (Amherst NY: Humanity Books, 2009).

Feminist Metaphysics: Explorations in the Ontology of Sex, Gender, and the Self  includes the essay "The Politics and the Metaphysics of Experience," written by Marianne Janack, the Sidney Wertimer Associate Professor of Philosophy.  The book is edited by Charlotte Witt of the University of New Hampshire and published by Springer Press.

Associate Professor of Philosophy A. Todd Franklin has published a paper titled “Schoolin’: Critical Consciousness, Black Consciousness and the Pedagogies of Transformation,” in The International Journal of Learning, Volume 17, Issue 8, 2010.

Assistant Professor of Philosophy Russell Marcus has published an article on the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (IEP). In "The Indispensability Argument in the Philosophy of Mathematics," Russell discusses the problem of justifying the mathematical beliefs that motivate the indispensability argument.
