On September 21, students in Hamilton's New York City program visited the Barclays Capital building for a discussion hosted by Hamilton alumni George Mack ’93 and Alexandra Leighton ’09. Barclays Capital, located on 49th Street and 7th Avenue, is one of the world’s premier investment banks.

A dinner and reading by author Colum McCann was the culminating event for students in this semester’s Program in New York City. The event was part of the Eat, Drink & Be Literary series sponsored by the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). The Hamilton students’ attendance was underwritten by Arthur Levitt P’81, HD ’81, Brooklyn native and BAM enthusiast, and Bill Lynch ’82, vice president for development at BAM.

On March 30 students in the Program in New York City visited one of the city’s great community museums. Located on 5th Avenue and 104th street, El Museo del Barrio is thinking ahead to how museums will engage their communities in the globalized and digitized future.

This semester's NYC program theme is Mediascapes: Globalization and Culture and is directed by Professor of English Patricia O'Neill. Hamilton’s spring 2011 Program in New York is delving into the topic “Mediascapes: Globalization and Culture.” Under the direction of Professor of English Patricia O’Neill, the 14 students will focus on how film, art, literature and music produce and represent global culture in New York City.
On Oct. 27, students in the Program in New York City attended a performance of the Broadway show, Billy Elliot. This show was named by TIME Magazine as the "Best Musical of the Decade." The musical was an excellent fit for a program that examines issues in labor economics and employment relations since a main backdrop to the show is a strike by coal miners.

The 15 students in the Hamilton Program in New York recently visited with Rob Morris, '76, his wife MaryHelen and two of their children at their home in Riverside, Conn. After a pleasant meal, Morris, who is the founder and managing partner of Olympus Partners, a private equity fund based in Stamford, Conn., discussed the activities of his firm.
