Garrett Armbruster ’10 presented a poster titled “ Forecasting Lake Effect Precipitation for Upstate New York” at the 35th Annual Northeastern Storm Conference held in Saratoga, N.Y., on March 6. The American Meteorological Society, the National Weather Service, and Lyndon State College sponsored the conference. The work Armbruster presented was based on his senior thesis with Prof. Cynthia Domack in the Hamilton College Geosciences Department and an internship with meteorologist Adam Musyt at WKTV, Utica. Heather Otis '10, Assistant Professor of Anthropology Nathan Goodale, and Ken Bart, director of the microscopy and imaging facility, published an article, "Sickle blade life history and the transition to agriculture: A case study from Southwest Asia," in the Journal of Archaeological Science. The article appeared online on Dec. 21 and will be published in the March issue of the journal. The study examines the importance of sickle technology during the transition to agriculture in the Middle East at an early Neolithic community occupied circa 11,500 years ago in Jordan. More ...

Will Eagan '11 Presents at AAS
Will Eagan '11 presented a poster at the 215th meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 4. The annual meeting of the AAS is the main conference for professional astronomers in North America. Eagan's poster was titled "Comparison of Properties of High- and Low-Redshift Ultra-luminous Infrared Galaxies." It resulted from research he conducted last summer in collaboration with Assistant Professor of Physics Natalia Connolly and Dr. Brian Connolly, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania and scholar-in-residence at Hamilton.

Sujitha Amalanayagam ’10 co-authored an article published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (12/09). The article is titled “Epinephrine treatments is infrequent and biphasic reactions are rare in food-induced reactions during oral food challenges in children.” Among the other co-authors is Hugh A. Sampson ’71, chief of the Division of Allergy & Immunology in the Department of Pediatrics, director of the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute, and dean of Translational Biomedical Science at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Margeaux Annalett '10 Co-Authors Case Study in Psychiatric Annals
Margeaux Annalett '10 co-authored an article that was published in the November edition of Psychiatric Annals. Annalett, a psychology major at Hamilton, externed at Buffalo Psychiatric Center's Research Department during the summer. While there she co-authored a case challenge article that concerned a 58-year-old woman who had attempted suicide several times. Hamilton College is noted in the publication as Annalett’s affiliated institution.
