For the third year in a row, the Hamilton Mathletics team won first place in the annual Snow Bowl competition, edging out teams from Colgate University, Skidmore College and St. Lawrence University. To determine the winner, each team in the competition added their top five scores on the William Lowell Putnam Exam.

Twelve of Hamilton’s outstanding female science students are the first recipients of the Clare Boothe Luce Undergraduate Research Award. The new annual award will fund up to 12 female scientists each summer over the course of three years as Clare Boothe Luce Scholars in the fields of computer science, physics and chemistry. The $144,600 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation will be matched with funds from Hamilton.

Kimberly Bogardus ’14 has been named a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar for the 2013-14 academic year. She is among 271 scholars from across the U.S. to receive the Goldwater, the premier national undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering. Robert Hayden ’14 and Christopher Richardson ’14 received honorable mention.

The April issue of Entrepreneur magazine features a full-page story on Hillfresh Laundry, the Hamilton-based laundry service founded by Jeremy Young ’13 and Faton Begolli ’13. “Pressing Business,” appearing in the College Startup section of the magazine, chronicles the development of the business from the first meeting of the college’s Entrepreneur Club in 2010 that inspired Young to Hillfresh’s financial success and growth today.

More ...After its victory at the Cornell Invitational, Hamilton’s Mock Trial team once again demonstrated its strength with a 5th place finish at their regional qualifier in Buffalo on Feb. 23-24. Compiling a record of 5-3, the team performed well enough to advance to the Opening Round Championship Series of the American Mock Trial Association’s (AMTA) national tournament.
