Senior Art Concentrators, Faculty Make Annual Trek to NYC Studios

After their original plans to visit the studios of professional artists fell through in October due to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, nine senior art concentrators and art faculty were able to reschedule the always-anticipated trip and visit New York City on Jan. 24-27.

Theatre, Studio Arts Complex Construction Under Way

Hamilton’s latest major building project is well under way with the construction of the theatre and studio arts building progressing on schedule. Bill Huggins, associate director of Physical Plant, says the project is on track to be finished in July, 2014. When complete the $46.8 million complex will encompass 81,000 square feet.

Alexandra Nasto '13: From Museum Intern to Exhibitor

Alexandra Nasto’s ’13 summer internship at the New Britain (Conn.) Museum of American Art (NBMAA) led to one of her works being exhibited at the museum’s Juried Members Show in October.  Nasto, a curatorial intern at the NBMAA from May to August 2012, submitted an acrylic painting she had completed as part of Hamilton Professor Bill Salzillo’s design class last spring. The painting was one of the works selected by juror Robert Burns, director of the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Conn.

Theatre, Studio Arts Facilities Get Green Light

Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. of Utica is Construction Manager

June 4, 2012 

Having approved design construction documents for a new theatre and studio arts building, the Board of Trustees on June 2 authorized the officers of the college to enter into a contract with Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. of Utica to build new studio arts and theatre facilities in an amount not to exceed $46.8 million. Construction will begin this month and completion of the building is expected in summer 2014.
