    July 2, 2009

Two Olympians will visit the Hamilton College Competitive Swim Camp during the camp's three sessions in July.

Gil Stovall competed for the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Stovall qualified for one of the two semifinals with a time of 1:55.42 in one of the heats of the 200-meter butterfly. He finished fifth in the semifinals with a time of 1:55.36 and barely missed qualifying for the finals.

Stovall made the team with a career-best time of 1:53.86 as he finished second in the 200 fly at the U.S. Olympic Time Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. At that time, he was the second-fastest swimmer ever in the event -- behind Michael Phelps.

Stovall swam competitively for the University of Georgia (2004 to 2008) and the Athens Bulldog Swim Club. He broke a 17-year-old NCAA record and won a national title for Georgia in the 200-yard fly with a time of 1:41.33 at the 2008 NCAA Division I men's swimming and diving championships.

Maritza Correia returns to Hamilton's swim camp for the second straight year. Correia earned the silver medal for her role on the 400-meter freestyle relay at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. She was the first African-American woman to make the U.S. swim team.

Correia helped the Georgia women's swimming and diving team to two NCAA titles. She was the national champion in both the 50- and 100-yard free and was a member of two winning relays at the 2002 NCAA championships. She set NCAA, American and U.S. Open records with a time of 21.69 seconds in the 50 free that year. Correia was an 11-time NCAA champion during her college career.

Stovall is scheduled to appear at the Hamilton camp during the week of July 5 to July 9 and July 12 to July 16. Correia will attend the final session during the week of July 19 to July 23.
