The Production of Global Culture: The View From New York City

Director: Prof. Henry Rutz

Our question will be how the emergence of a new middle class in New York City as a premier global city in the 1990s has influenced the production of global culture in a variety of commodity culture producing services and industries. Students will have an opportunity to intern with museums, art galleries, auction houses, commissions, firms or organizations that aid in the production of global culture by providing promotional, marketing, and advertising services.
